Leather is renowned for its durability and longevity. It’s also naturally resistant to abrasion, punctures, and tears, making it perfect for items that undergo regular wear and tear such as motorcycle jackets, footwear and bags. Quality leather goods can last for many years with proper care, making them a worthwhile investment:
My Old Leather
I still use the leather belt my dad made me when I was 11! It’s had a few extra holes in it since then, but it’s got years left in it still. The leather satchel I used through secondary school still travels to different countries with me now (here it is in Thessaloniki) although I’ve had to replace a few buckle straps. Oh and my favourite evening boots that were second hand in the 1990s are still being used for my pirate, Reckless Rosie! They were resoled last year (see my blog here) before I used and abused them at the beach… and then left them as they were for about 8 months!

How do you make leather last longer?

Just as some people are careful about what chemicals they put in/on your body, it’s a good idea to think about what different chemicals do to your leather . Did you know that most leather treatments change the ph level of the leather?
