Been a while but #CashIsKing is campaign I can get on board with, and I prepared this for tomorrow’s bank run day: the idea is that everyone draws money out of the bank on 2nd April to demonstrate to the banks that we still want to use cash despite the fast disappearing cash machines and high street banks!
I prefer cash because it’s easier to track – got into painful amounts of debt as a student teacher with an addiction to buying books (and vehichles) – it was just too easy to spend when it was ‘virtual’ and forget swappiong to 0% cards – before you know it you’ve got two of em full and you end up paying 25% on most of it …
Besides that – cash is easier on the Tamar Bridge when your tag’s run out, buskers, rough sleepers, car boots – and as a trader (thanks Scumbag Sunak) cash is so much easier and quicker. Oh… and teaching children to handle money? Come on teachers – get on board!
I won’t get into my “conspiracy” theories here about CBDCs and the future…

Don’t get into Debt!
Interesting timing, too – I’ve been mulling over a moral dilemma recently – logged into my store and PayPal were offering me use of their credit facility: I could offer customers the option to “Buy now pay later”. I don’t like to spend money I don’t have – I know from experience it’s hard to get out of debt and easy to slide into. Did I want to take up the facility? Doesn’t make sense not to as a business I guess, but as a person feels incongruent to offer a service I’d be dodged out about taking up…
Anyways – seems the decision has been taken out of my hands – as of the end of this month I will have to update my store’s PayPal facility or it won’t work – it will offer lots more I’m told – that’s fine but none of the links work! IONOS are you listening?!
But I just want to state here, for my own peace of mind: even if my store offers a layaway facility – I am in no way encouraging you to use it!
Update 25/04/2024 Paypal have forced the update on me – my checkout was due to stop working end of this month unless I updated it, and now the “Pay Later” button is there… wasn’t my choice – leather lasts but I don’t recommend you get into debt for it!
